Reflection on Modern Art (2017)

The polished but imperfect black stone floor of the William Turner Gallery at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, California reflects three “reductive” paintings by California artist Peter Lodato. My new work in the liquid-crystal medium is an insightful meta-artistic commentary on Lodato’s hallmark verticals, employing the wall and fortuitous linear indentations in the floor to divide the picture horizontally into thirds.

(In case you’re puzzled by the insightful commentary, it’s merely that photography can be as pretentious as any other art form.)
