The Santa Monica Museum of Art was located in Bergamot Station from 1998 until 2015. In addition to exhibiting the work of contemporary artists, the Museum offered ongoing educational outreach programs. The Wall Works program involved students collaborating with an artist to create an installation for display on a wall behind the museum.
This Wall Works project was called The Walls Have Eyes. Working with a professional ceramicist, the students drew different kinds of eyes on clay disks, which were installed on the colorfully-painted wall. This installation was on display from October 2011 through February 2012.
