Brassica Abstract (2019)

Fields of blooming black mustard (Brassica nigra) flowers broken by trees and shrubs on the hills of the Palos Verdes Peninsula in spring make a natural abstract painting. Despite the colorful decoration it gives the hills, black mustard is an invasive species native to Europe, North Africa, and Asia.

This view is from the Barkentine Trail that traverses the Three Sisters Reserve, a 40-hectare section of the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve.
