Barkentine Trail in Spring (2019)

Springtime view from the Barkentine Trail in Rancho Palos Verdes. After a wet winter, the hills on the Palos Verdes Peninsula are covered with the bright yellow flowers of black mustard (Brassica nigra) plants. Despite the beautiful floral display, black mustard is an invasive species native to Europe, North Africa, and Asia. The Barkentine Trail traverses the Three Sisters Reserve, a 40-hectare section of the Palos Verdes Nature Preserve.
