Mirlo Gate Lodge Tower and Mailbox (2012)

The Mirlo Gate Lodge Tower in Palos Verdes Estates, California, was intended as the home of the gatekeeper who would guard the community of Valmonte. The tower was built in 1926, but the Depression forced the cancallation of the development project that included Valmonte.

The stone tower now belongs to the City of Palos Verdes Estates, which rents it to tenants who agree to maintain it. One of those tenants added a mailbox that’s a miniature version of the tower.
