Handstand Y (2011)

Milton Hebald’s 1986 Handstand sculpture, outside the Stuart M. Ketchum Downtown YMCA in Downtown Los Angeles. Since the YMCA is often called “the Y”, the bronze figure of a young male athlete (possibly Hebald’s grandon) forms a Y. It (hand)stands on top of a three-meter pedestal, to make it more visible to people crossing the walkway from the Bonaventure Hotel across Flower Street.
