The Keanae Congregational Church and its cemetery, on the Keanae Peninsula, Maui. The lava rock church, built in 1860, was the only building left standing after a tsunami inundated the Keanae Peninsula in 1946. The cemetery has tombstones in the Asian/Hawaiian style, some of which have photographs of the deceased. A young boy’s grave is in the foreground. His family has decorated it with his favorite toys and clothes.
