Sunken Garden and Old Jail (2003)

View from the Sunken Garden of the Santa Barbara Courthouse, showing the east and south wings of the building. The east wing was originally the county jail. It’s now used for offices because it’s far too small to accommodate today’s much larger criminal population. You can easily see the asymmetry (particularly in the placement of windows) that is a salient feature of William Mooser’s design.
