Hanalei Valley (1990)

The Hanalei Valley on the north shore of the island of Kauai, Hawaii, from the viewpoint off Highway 56. The farm plots grow taro, the traditional starchy staple of Polynesia. In Hawaii, taro tubers are mashed into poi paste, or sliced and fried as tasty chips (crisps). The Hanalei River runs through the valley.
