Griffith Observatory Corners (2007)

Some details of the Griffith Observatory art deco exterior. The geometric patterns in the concrete represent the “Modified Greek” style. The rounded edges and stylized flowers of the decorative copper work on the cupola in the background are typical of art deco styling. Both characteristics symbolized “modernity” in the 1930s. Late afternoon sunlight turns the white concrete golden.
