Mausoleum of the Julii Frieze (2000)

One of four friezes on the lower level of the Mausoleum of the Julii in Glanum, the former Roman city near Saint-Rémy de Provence. The Mausoleum is a cenotaph, a memorial monument dedicated by three brothers to their father and grandfather, who were most likely Gaulish Celts granted citizenship by Julius Caesar. The friezes attest to the men’s heroism through scenes from Greek mythology. This frieze depicts a boar hunt.
