Unfinished Wall (2010)

Part of the elevated track for the tram that carries visitors from the entrance up the hill to the Getty Center. The “unfinished” wall shows how the travertine squares fit into the building facades. Why isn’t it completely covered? Did they run out of squares during construction? I don’t know, but I suspect it’s intentional.

This view is from the terrace of the restaurant building looking across the Arrival Plaza— and through a sculpture made of metal tubing— toward the auditorium building.
