Corinthian Capital (2007)

Detail of a Corinthian capital atop a column at the Getty Villa. Capitals are the carvings at the top of columns in Greek and Roman architecture (and on later Classically-inspired buildings). Corinthian capitals are the most ornate type, with carvings that commonly feature curled acanthus leaves.
