Rue des Boutiques, Vaison-la-Romaine (2000)

The excavated ruins of the main shopping street of the Roman city of Vasio, in Vaison-la-Romaine. The name of the modern town echoes the formal name of the Roman city, Vasio Vocontorum. The site was originally the capital of the Gaulish Vocontii tribe, named for Vasio, a local Celtic deity.
