Old Jail (2003)

View from the Sunken Garden looking toward the east wing of the Santa Barbara Courthouse. This part of the complex was originally the county jail. It’s now used for offices because it’s far too small to accommodate today’s much larger criminal population. You can easily see the asymmetry (particularly in the placement of windows) that is a salient feature of William Mooser’s design.
